Metal wires and mesh have been used in dentistry for years to try to provide strength to dentures. Because metal does not bond to the resin, these types of reinforcements can act as a foreign body and actually increase the chance of fracture. Ribbond's ease of use and ability to prevent crack propagation makes Ribbond an ideal material for reinforcing or repairing dentures.

This broken cantelevered implant retained bridge was repaired with Ribbond. This repair lasted 2 1/2 years until the patient died (note that repair photo was taken before acrylic covering was applied).
